AVUITY sensors collect workplace usage data discreetly and provide insight into environmental trends.
Portfolio Rightsizing Hero

Space Measurement Tools Gather Meaningful Data

AVUITY’s sensor platform prioritizes the user experience and effortlessly collects data on workplace occupancy, headcount, and environmental metrics to inform office design and operations decisions. Our variety of workplace occupancy sensor options suits your data collection needs at any level, supporting incremental studies or full-time space management.

We leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning so you can best understand your organization and your team can adapt to its trends and identify key insights that will improve its workflow.

VuAi

A Next-Generation Sensor to Bring AI to the Workplace

This cutting-edge wireless device uses Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to measure human occupancy and determine how people interact with the space and objects around them. VuAI constantly learns from other deployed sensors. The more data that is gathered, the richer its recognition capability becomes. Our sensors send real-time data to VuSpace to make understanding your space easier than ever.

The VuAI captures occupancy, utilization, temperature, light, noise, and humidity levels and then associates that data to every building, floor, space type, and amenity across your portfolio. This allows for a high-level overview of how space is performing or a deep dive into the details.

Minimal work is required to install our primary workplace occupancy sensor, the VuAI. The VuAI is battery-based and communicates via a 2.4 GHz frequency to a central gateway, which is powered via a standard outlet. There is no need for cables and infrastructure to power it or communicate data. When the battery is low, a notification identifies both the device and its location for a simple replacement process.

  • Wireless, ceiling-mounted hardware allows easy installs and the ability to move sensors as your space changes over time.
  • Measure occupancy, headcount, and environmental metrics including temperature, humidity, light, and noise level.
  • On a 9’ ceiling the VuAI has a range of 608 sq. ft. On a 12’ ceiling, the VuAI has a range of 1075 sq. ft.
  • The coverage area for each VuAI can be subdivided into “motion zones”, which allow for seat-by-seat analysis. Example: One VuAI is deployed over a 12-pack of workstations, which the VuAI monitors as 12 independent areas.
  • The VuAI has a 2-year (1-minute polling interval) -10-year (5-minute polling interval) battery life. Users select the polling interval that best suits their needs for each sensor.
  • The VuAI is also available in a Power over Ethernet configuration for scenarios where battery-based sensors are not ideal.

  • Measure occupancy without PII (personally identifiable information).
  • Understand when and how spaces are used while protecting employee privacy.
  • Assist your IT and security teams with a non-invasive platform.
  • AVUITY has conducted extensive privacy and security reviews with customers across all major industries. We are happy to connect you with those customers to assist in your privacy and security evaluation.

Sensors learn from their surroundings, empowering the ability to identify objects, improve accuracy and derive the data necessary for making your most important decisions. The VuAI platform is an industry leader capable of measuring the following:

  • Human occupancy.
  • Environmental metrics (temperature, humidity, sound, lighting).
  • Objects and workplace tools.

Learn from your space over time with office AI that measures what matters.

The employee experience is vital to the success of a business—so utilizing sensors to gather information about how they interact with a space is valuable to ensure their continued success. Where are employees gathering? Are there enough individual spaces or conference rooms? Get all the data you need to make decisions about your office.

In addition, VuSensor or VuAI can communicate with building automation systems, improving employees’ comfort by adjusting air conditioning or heat. Integrating VuBook with sensors improves productivity, saving your employees time looking for an available space to work or meet, and improves the overall user experience.

IR Sensors

Small Sensors With a Powerful Impact

Ideal for intermittent or incremental studies, AVUITY’s IR sensors are easy to install and remove for a baseline understanding of space usage. These sensors are inexpensive but still provide highly useful data on desk occupancy, workstation usage, and utilization trends with our reporting and analytics tools in VuSpace.

** AVUITY does not capture personally identifiable information (PII).

VuSensor

A Simple Sensor With Complex Capabilities

VuSensor functions similarly to VuAI but is better suited for long-term/permanent installations since it is a wired IoT device. It collects the same insightful data that informs businesses on how their office space is utilized. Real-time data is made available in VuSpace for quick and easy access.

VuSensor is ideal for measuring how many people are entering or exiting a given space over time. Understanding usage and attendance trends in a specific building or floor allows managers to make insightful decisions on things like when to clean. Customers typically deploy VuSensors at:

  • Entry and exit points for each floor to gain a better understanding of overall floor utilization.
  • Restroom entrances to drive smart cleaning schedules based on restroom usage.

Optimize your retail space by getting to know the habits of your customers. How much time did they spend in your space, and what areas did they visit? Use the information to improve the quality of your patrons’ experience and increase sales. Determine if different store locations are performing and get accurate counts of how many people are in the store on any given day or time.

With the evolution of agile and mobile working, use the sensor to gather information about the utilization of space. What is the actual occupancy of the space and what areas go unused? Get all the data you need to make decisions about your space and save money. Increase efficiency by using the information to eliminate or reduce space for tenants. In addition, the VuSensor has the ability to communicate with building automation systems—so you can turn off lights, air conditioning, or heat in unoccupied spaces, saving overhead costs. Use the data to help you keep track of how many people are in the building and where are they located at any given time.
